Abstract
newline With the rapid development of urbanization, the tendency for road accidents is also increasing due to heavy traffic. Most of the victims give up their lives because of the insufficient infrastructure emergency information distribution to the proper authorities and a lack of critical care on an urgent basis. Therefore, it becomes essential to configure a mechanism for the timely delivery of emergency messages across the network to a specific end user to deal with such kinds of disasters efficiently. This thesis addresses congestion control, privacy preservation, secure data sharing, roadside unit deployment for coverage improvement, and energy-efficient broadcasting of safety messages for the Intelligent Transportation System. The first work considers the distributed and#945;-fair transmit power adaptation based congestion control in the vehicular ad-hoc network to discover and reduce traffic congestion using the transmit power control and optimum node selection for cooperative VANET in the framework of the utility function optimization. The proposed system has better performance as compared to Distributed Fair Power Adjustment for Vehicular networks (D-FPAV) protocol, Distributed Vehicular BroadCAST (DV-CAST) protocol, and An Urban Vehicular BroadCAST (UV-CAST) protocol regarding packet reception probability, average packet delivery ratio, and average end-to-end packet delivery delay in vehicular ad-hoc networks (VANET). In the second work, privacy preservation and a secure data sharing scheme in fog based vehicular ad-hoc networks have been considered by analyzing critical information and employing data confidentiality with the help of Hierarchical Attribute-Based Encryption (HABE) with an efficient key exchange. The proposed scheme also uses symmetric encryption and a Hash-based Message Authentication Code (HMAC) computation with the shared secret key to secure the message transmission between vehicles. It also provides fine-grained access control before outsourcing data to the cloud server to ensure
