| dc.description.abstract | The present study has made an effort to address the issues faced by public private newlinepartnership projects in India with comparison to BRICS countries. The main focus of the newlinestudy is to provide recommendations to the financial institutions and to the policy makers newlinefor developing a sound PPP model in India. newlineThe quantitative analysis revealed that there is a great potential of PPP projects and newlineinvestment on the GDP growth of the economy. The government should focus on newlinedeveloping more PPP projects in all spheres as it can benefit both the parties (public and newlineprivate). newlineThe study also shows that a number of projects are initiated in India after 1990 but 50 newlinepercent of the projects are only accomplished and rest are struggling at various stages. newlineThe critical enablers for the successful implementation of PPP model in India has been newlineidentified after interviewing various experts and by studying a number of case studies. newlineThe study has taken into consideration two infrastructure sectors namely transportation newlineand energy. It shows that maximum projects are awarded under transportation sector newlinewhile in electricity generation there is hardly a few number of PPP projects. While in newlineother countries of BRICS maximum projects are awarded under energy sector. newlineThe study also shows that there are huge prospects for PPP in future in other sectors like newlineeducation, agriculture, health care etc. The government is taking various initiatives to newlinerevive PPP in India and this study can help the policymakers in the sound implementation newlineof PPP in India. newline | |
