Abstract
A Geopolymer is a new-generation material widely used in the construction industry. It is
newlinethe sustainable one in which the waste materials produced from thermal power plants are
newlineused as partial or complete replacements for cement to make the environment free from
newlinethe release of carbon dioxide emissions from cement manufacturing companies. For
newlinevarying sodium hydroxide different molarities, i.e., 2, 4, 6, 8M. For different in the binder
newlinecontent 1:1, 1:2 and 1:3 by varying ratios of sodium silicate to sodium hydroxide ratios 1.5,
newline2, 2.5,3. Different mixes are mixed and 0.55 constant ratio maintained throughout the
newlineresearch.
newlineThe thesis deals with studying material properties, processing and characterization of fly
newlineash-based Geopolymer. The thesis widely describes the characterization and chemical
newlinecomposition of fly ash-based Geopolymers at ambient and oven temperatures. Various
newlinetests are performed including X-ray diffraction (XRD), Scanning Electron Microscope
newline(SEM), Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy (EDS), DSC, FTIR, TG/DTA, and physical and
newlinemechanical properties, including workability and compressive strength tests, durability
newlinetests such as sorptivity, AMLF, AAF, ASLF and ADLF respectively. Test results exhibited
newlinethe potential benefit of fly ash-based Geopolymer as an alternative to ordinary Portland cement for the concrete industry.
