Abstract
Ginger (Zingiber officinale Rosc.) is one of the most important spice crop cultivated in
newlineIndia and outside for the spicy vegetable ginger and dried ginger and India is the largest

newlinethe ginger growing countries. The pathogen R.solancaerum is very notorious due to wide
newlinehost range, aggressiveness and ability to survive in soil for many years. Dissemination
newlineof the pathogen is through infected seed and soil. Detection and documentation and
newlinediagnosis of the pathogen are of utmost importance in studying the epidemiology and
newlinealso to develop adequate control strategies.
