dc.description.abstractIn our environment, resources are available in various forms and interact newlinewith one another in many ways. Out of many resources, the land resource is one of newlinethe vital resources for human beings and other lifeforms to flourish. Our life forms newlinedepend on the land resource directly or indirectly in various ways. In other words, newlinethe degradation of this resource brings about the problem regarding the newlinesustainability of the inhabitants of the world. The degradation in the land resources newlineevolves along with the human evolutions and rises over time. In the 21st Century, newlineland degradation is considered to be one of the major global threats, which also newlineinduce a negative impact on other resources. This phenomenon makes a great newlineimpact on agricultural productivity, food security, and degrading the living newlineconditions of the population. The effect caused by land degradation take time to newlineget recovered. The degradation or the reduction in the quality of the land resources newlinewhich directly indirectly affects the productivity of the resources is defined as land newlinedegradation. Land degradation which occurs in the arid region is known as land newlinedesertification. This phenomenon also leads to the reduction or degradation of the newlineeconomic value of the land resources. As the land degradation phenomenon is newlinedescribed as the major global concern of this century, a systematic and broadspectrum-based approach is essential to monitor and assess the effect, so that we newlinecan invert the effect of this phenomenon. Among various frameworks such as of newline Plan of Action to Combat Desertification (PACD), Mediterranean newlinedesertification and Land Use (MEDULAS), and Global assessment of soil newlinedesertification (GLASOD), the methodological framework of UNEP and FAO newlineadopted on Land degradation assessment on dryland (LADA) project is newlineconsidered as one the most effective and widely used framework for the newlineassessment of land degradation.
