T newlineThe demand for Metal Matrix Composites (MMC) in structural applications is due to its high strength, wear resistance and stability at elevated temperatures. The rising require for lightweight, energy efficient materials, light metal-matrix composites are bound to find many more applications provided they meet specific friction and wear requirement while maintaining reasonable mechanical properties. Research is going on in the field of engineering, aerospace, marine, automobile, structural and defense sectors continuously for a material which meets the above requirements. newline The work is made to produce and join composite material, which overcome the most of the above problems effectively. Aluminium matrix (AA2219), Titanium Carbide Particle (TiCp) reinforced composite is a good option to meet the above requirements. Basically Aluminium Matrix Composite (AMC) is a heterogeneous mixture of minimum two materials. The primary role of the matrix alloy is to provide efficient transfer of load to the reinforcement. In the present study, AA2219 is used as matrix material and TiCp which is of size less than two microns are added as reinforcement. AA2219 is chosen primarily due to its strength modification capabilities due to optimal heat treatment or subsequent cold working. Titanium carbide is a ceramic material and it is thermodynamically stable. newline Composites are cast with the reinforcement addition of 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7% to compare the effectiveness at the introduction of the reinforcement. Optical microscopy, Energy Dispersive X-rays (EDX) test and X-Ray Diffraction Analysis (XRD) test reveals the presence of TiCp reinforced in the Aluminium matrix. Mechanical characterization is carried out to estimate the specific strength of the material. Tensile strength of the composite is measured by universal testing machine. Three standard specimens are tested and their average values are taken for the analysis. Specific strength increases appreciably with the addition of % TiCp addition. newline Wear characterization is ca
