Abstract
Herbal remedies have always taken a lead in Indian medicinal system for a
newlinewide range of common and complicated medical disorders affecting both humans
newlineand animals. However, the therapeutic potential of age-old Indian herbal remedies,
newlinepromoting the indigenous health care system needs immediate validation through
newlineextensive scientific studies. These validations supplement the existing pharmaceutics
newlineas well as promote the government and aborigines to conserve medicinal plants
newlinethrough both in situ as well as ex-situ strategies. The biodiversity-rich southern
newlineOdisha being ladened with scientifically unexplored medicinal flora has a multifaceted
newlinetherapeutic scope against different health ailments. Urogenital disorders
newlineoften remained the most common and troubling issues, especially in women.
newlineAlthough, they are generally not life-threatening, they undoubtedly compromise the
newlineoverall well-being and general health status of any individual and herbal remedies
newlinecan be most preferred and accessible natural and safe medicaments in such
newlinescenarios. Further, there is a great scope for investigating therapeutic potential of the
newlineunderutilised and uncharted flora of southern Odisha against some of the urogenital
newlineailments. Hence, it prompted us to undertake this present investigation to unravel the
newlineprotective and curative potentials of some of the ethnomedicinal herbs against
newlineurogenital disorders.

newlineIn the present study, six sample sites of southern Odisha were surveyed for
newlinetheir floristic composition and different tribal populated areas were visited to
newlinedocument the ethnomedicinal uses of different plants and their parts for treating
newlinedifferent urological and reproductive system related problems. From our survey, the
newlineleast explored 11 plant parts were selected for their scientific validation through
newlinephytochemical analysis and antibacterial assays using multiple methods against the
newlineclinical isolates of Enterococcus faecalis, Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas
