Tracing the australian landscape ecocritically

Abstract

The focus of narratives in humanities research on the environment is perceived to be necessarily examining the metamorphoses of the landscape and the ensuing concerns globally. Parallel efforts collaborating newer forms of interdisciplinary research interweaving ecocritical consciousness are also in progress addressing real world problems that can have greater political and social impact. At various stages in the recent past, different disciplines have brought an awareness of the ecological crisis that are represented through respective forms of thought. Ecocriticism, a critical school of thought in the environmental humanities, has come more to the fore among scholars since its establishment. The school has offered a platform to the ecocritics who have intensively studied the writings of Romantics and Transcendentalists, the leading pioneers and contributors in the field, especially their perspectives about nature. The worldviews expressed in their writings express their imagination of nature, and in turn, how such imaginations have shaped their environments at the global level. newline
