In a democracy like India, elections form the very foundation of governance, ensuring that power remains in the hands of the people. A crucial aspect of this process is the delimitation of constituencies, which ensures fair and proportional representation by determining how voters are grouped and how seats are distributed in legislative bodies. Delimitation is not merely a technical exercise but a constitutional and political process that shapes governance and political balance. This exercise holds special significance for the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, particularly after the abrogation of Article 370 and its bifurcation into the Union Territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. Redrawing electoral boundaries has become essential to reflect the region s altered administrative and demographic realities. The implications of delimitation in Jammu and Kashmir extend beyond electoral representation, influencing regional identity, political participation, federalism, and national integration. In a layman language delimitation is the process of redrawing electoral boundaries in such a manner to achieve fair and equal electoral representation. This exercise guarantees that voters are distributed fairly. newline
