Development of Pap Smear Based Computer Aided Detection System for Cervical Cancer

Abstract

Cervical cancer is the cancer in which cells of cervix grows out of control. It is fourth newlinemost common cancer found worldwide in women. It is one of the major causes of newlinedeaths in women, especially in developing countries. According to the world health newlineorganisation study, all women are at risk for this cancer. It mostly occurs in women newlineover age 30. International agency for research on cancer estimates 604127 new cases newlineand 341831 numbers of deaths in 2020 worldwide due to cervical cancer. According newlineto GLOBOCAN 2020 database, cervical cancer is the second most found cancer newlinehaving incidence and mortality just after breast cancer in lower human development newlinecountries. In Sub-Saharan Africa and South-Eastern Asia, countries it is the most newlinecommonly diagnosed cancer and the leading cause of cancer death. A sexually newlinetransmitted infection caused by Human papillomavirus (HPV) is responsible for most newlinecases. World health organization (WHO) currently recommends 2 doses of HPV newlinevaccine of girls aged 9 to 13 year. A high-quality screening recommended for women newlineaged up to 49 years by either through with visual inspection with acetic acid or newlinePapanicolaou test every 3 to 5 years or HPV test in every five years. Amongst these newlinetesting techniques, HPV based testing is more costly than visual inspection acetic acid newlineand cervical cytology (Pap smear test). newline
