Geosynthetics are synthetic products that are used to reinforce soil, to separate the soil layers, newlineto provide drainage, and also for filtration purpose. Geotextiles, geogrids, geomembrane, newlinegeosynthetics clay liner, geonet, geopipe, geofoam, geocomposite are the different types of newlinegeosynthetics. Geosynthetics are more advantageous as compared to conventional methods newlinelike cost-wise, easiness in constructions affectivity wise. Stabilizing agents may also be used newlineto stabilize the weak soils. Research work has been undertaken worldwide on reinforced soil newlinein various geotechnical construction disciplines to utilize the ground having weak soils. In newlinethis study, micro pollutant -the red stone dust (RSD) waste- is used for stabilizing the newlineexpansive soil. Here, red stone dust is added 5%, 10%, 15%, 20%, 25%, 30%, and 35% to newlinethe dry weight of the expansive soil to stabilize it. The stabilized soil is strengthened with newlinegeosynthetic materials- Non-Woven Geotextiles and Geogrid- by placing it at various depths newlinein single and double layers in order to employ the black cotton soil (BCS) as subgrade. newlineCalifornia Bearing Ratio (CBR) tests are conducted on BCS +RSD blends having geotextile newlineand geogrid positioned at depths of one-third the total height of the sample (H/3) and twothirds newlinethe total height of the sample (2H/3) from the top of the loading surface. The mixture newlinepossessing 25% percentage of RSD gave best results. Improvement in CBR value found newlinemore if reinforcement is used in single layer as compared with double layers. Effect of newlineincrease in micro pollutant percentage, in swelling characteristics is also found out.
