A Comprehensive Framework for Enhancing Water Quality Evaluation in Tamil Nadu Rivers by Integrating Fuzzy MADM Methods and Fuzzy Inference System

Abstract

The water quality of the two important rivers in Tamil Nadu, India - Cauvery and newlineThirumanimutharu rivers is fully analyzed in this thesis utilizing an integrated method newlinethat integrates modern fuzzy Multi-Attribute Decision-Making (MADM) algorithms newlinewith water quality indicators. Given the difficulty of measuring water quality, which newlineencompasses various characteristics and dimensions, the research applies the Analytic newlineHierarchy Process (AHP) to weigh and prioritize these criteria, building a firm foundation newlinefor reliable analysis. newlineThis research tackles the inherent uncertainties and ambiguities in water quality newlinedata by incorporating Intuitionistic Fuzzy TOPSIS (IFT), Picture Fuzzy TOPSIS (PFT), newlineIntuitionistic Fuzzy PROMETHEE-II (IFP) and Picture Fuzzy PROMETHEE-II (PFP) newlineapproaches. These approaches expand classic decision-making models by accounting newlinefor reluctance and neutrality, making them particularly beneficial for environmental newlineevaluations. Moreover, the Canadian Council of Ministers of the Environment Water newlineQuality Index (CCME WQI) is customized to local conditions, giving a region-specific newlineevaluation framework that increases the accuracy and usefulness of the study newline
