Social Security Legislation for Gig Workers An Analysis

Abstract

The focus of this study is on gig workers and their social security. This discussion entails the newlineanalysis of social security laws available to gig workers. As gig jobs are easily available and newlinethe majority of people are joining these jobs, the social security of gig workers as a labour newlineworkforce has become challenging. The major focus of this study was on Code on Social newlineSecurity 2020, where gig and platform workers have been recognized as the labour workforce newlinein India. As a new trend in the labour market, it becomes necessary to study the concept, newlineemergence, importance, roles, and functions of gig workers. In this work, empirical research newlinehas also been done to study the field practically. This study has discussed the wide category of newlinegigs and challenges faced by gig and platform workers. These challenges are based on the newlinetheoretical study of different papers with observation from the field through empirical study newlineand data collected through interviews with gig workers. These experiences and issues showed newlinethe variety of problems of gig workers in the field while doing gig jobs.
