Abstract
Of late, global energy crises and environmental concerns due to depletion of conventional fossil fuels have demands more and more renewable energy developments in the worldwide. Among the renewable energy sources, solar power achieves a higher level of contribution to clean power generation, thus assuming a relevant role in matching the electricity demand. However, one of the main issues in solar power is the optimal integration of photovoltaic energy resources in existing electrical distribution systems. An uninterrupted supply of energy is the foremost requirement for world s rapid industrial and economic growth. Hence, the need of the hour is to design and to implement an efficient power conversion system of renewable energy sources for a sustainable environment. The main objective of this research work is to design and implement efficiency improvement techniques for solar photovoltaic generation system. There are many deficiencies present in the power conversion of renewable energy sources. The fluctuations in the output power is due to the nonlinear nature of photovoltaic system, type of power electronic interface used and the nature of load might lead to undesirable performance. A summary of problems in grid-connected solar photovoltaic generation system is listed as nonlinear I-V characteristics of photovoltaic system affecting the operating point, low power conversion efficiency due to changes in climatic conditions, poor dynamic response and low efficiency due to improper power electronic interface, the DC-DC converters suffer drawbacks like lower efficiency, increased stress, cost, size, etc. and the conventional controllers are taking more time to synchronize the inverter with the grid. Hence, in this research, an approach based on an improved maximum power point tracking algorithm, High step-up DC-DC converterand grid synchronization is being attempted and simulated for grid-connected solar photovoltaic generation system. This approach is very effective for efficient power conversion of solar photovo
