Abstract
Aim: To develop a novel virtual reality (VR)-based binocular vision therapy game for
newlinethe management of amblyopia.

newlineMethodology: Questionnaires were developed and validated to understand the
newlineawareness, attitude and acceptance of digital screen-based binocular vision therapy
newline(DSBBVT) among parents and eye care practitioners. The two questionnaires
newlineunderwent the process of development through focus group discussion, face validity,
newlineand statistical test of reliability. The results drawn from the two questionnaires were
newlineconsidered in finalizing the features of novel game applications for the management of
newlineamblyopia. The VR game application (app) was developed by a software developer
newlinewith the input given by the researcher. Technical and clinical testing for the visual
newlinetargets of Gabor s patch used in the game app was completed before utilizing the app
newlinein the clinical setup.
newline
newlineThe efficacy of the game app was tested by having one group play this game for 20
newlineminutes a day for three months along with occlusion therapy. The other group of
newlinesubjects continued the occlusion therapy for 3 months. The visual functions like visual
newlineacuity, stereopsis, contrast sensitivity, fusion status, visual perceptual skills and reading
newlinespeed were compared with the baseline clinical values among both the groups after
newlinethree months of therapy.
