newlineAdolescence is the period of transition from childhood to adulthood and plays a decisive
newlinerole in the formation of pro-social / antisocial adults. Webster defines adolescence as
newlinecited in (Medovy, 1964) as the state or process of growing up from childhood to
newlinemanhood or womanhood. It is estimated that there are 7.2 billion people worldwide, and
newlineover 3 billion are younger than 25 years, making up 42% of the world population.
newlineAround 1.2 billion of these young people are adolescents aged between 10 and 19 years
newline(WHO, 2019). Adolescent age group constitutes around 22.8% (232million) of Indiaand#8223;s
newlinepopulation and in that adolescent girls have a close to half representation that is
newline111million of this population (The United Nations, 2011). Adolescence is a critical
newlineperiod of growth and emotional turmoil since they experience a vast amount of physical
newlinegrowth and development and there will be many factors which influence an adolescent
newlinegirland#8223;s self-esteem, and body image is considered as one of the critical factors among
newlinethem ( Divya, 2015). This is the point when there is a great chance of developing eating
newlinedisorders. In chapter V of ICD-10 eating Disorders are classified as Anorexia Nervosa,
newlineAtypical Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa, Atypical Bulimia Nervosa, Overeating
newlineassociated with other psychological disturbances and Vomiting associated with other
newlinepsychological disturbances (WHO, 2016). Anorexia Nervosa is a disorder which is
newlinecharacterized by deliberate weight loss, induced and sustained by the patient.` Anorexia
newlineNervosa is one of the highest mortality rates psychiatric disorders in the world. This
newlinedisorder has a prevalence of about 0.3% in young women and more than twice as
newlinecommon in teenage girls along with an average onset of 15 years and the notable fact is
