Psychological Profile of Indian Elite Long Distance Athletes

Abstract

AIM: Aim of this research was to prepare the psychological profile and to know the difference in selected psychology variables in Indian elite long distance athletes. Method: Forty one Indian elite long distance with age ranged from 18-35 whose level of achievement was national medalists and international participation has been selected for this research. For the said project the data would be collected by the researcher personally with permission of the various academies like, sports authority of India, Bangalore and Nasik during the time of the coaching camps for the collection of data. Prior to the administration of the test the investigator had a meeting with the concerned India coaches and players. Before administrating the study the scholar had briefed to the subjects about the purpose of the research and then the protocol of administrating of the test was followed. A proper sitting arrangement has been made by the scholar and single questionnaire has been distributed to all the respondents. Subsequently the other questionnaires have been distributed and their demographic information s were filled up on the Performa like age, gender and level of participation has been received. newlineThe scholar had explained the meaning of all the statements for better understanding and then adequate time had been given to all the subjects to give their response. Any statement which was not much clear to subjects has been further clarified by the researcher herself. Before collecting the questionnaires from all the subjects they were assured that their responses will be kept confidential. It will be use only for research purpose and not for any other work. The same assurance had been given to their coaches, parents and federations.
