Abstract
The search for alternate energy sources to meet the increasing energy
newlinedemand and the fast depleting carbon fuel resources resulted in a gradual transition
newlineof conventional centralised power generation units to distributed power generation
newlineunits which relays on renewable energy sources. Microgrids are developed as an
newlineinterface for connecting locally available energy sources to the local loads in
newlinedistributed generation systems. The existing microgrids operate mainly on the AC
newlinepower distribution principle. But most of the renewable energy resources are DC
newlinepower source generators and most of the modern devices work on DC power. Hence
newlineconverting DC power to AC for connecting to the microgrid and again to DC power
newlinefor supplying the load increase the losses and reduces the efficiency
