Design and analysis of authentication and access control protocols for secure and efficient communication

Abstract

Authentication and access control protocols are designed and developed to ensure newlineauthorization of users and to support policies of authorized access, respectively. newlineThese mechanism also effectively work towards the protection of consumer rights. newlineNowadays, authentication and access control protocols are able to serve most of newlinethe existing smartly operating systems, which are available in the public domain. newlineHowever, key concerns in the adoption of these protocols are security and efficiency. newlineThe proposed thesis is designed to address security and efficiency in mutual authentication, access control, and authenticated access control protocols. newlineInitially, we have presented the case study on existing authentication and access newlinecontrol schemes in which we have proved vulnerable to existing attacks. Then, newlineauthenticated key agreement protocols have been designed using cryptographic newlineprimitives in which involve parties mutually verify the correctness of each other, newlineand then authorized parties establish a secure session. Furthermore, the adoption newlineof biometric in authentication protocol is considered to ensure three-factor authentication. Efficient and secure scheme is also designed to ensure authorized access. newlineBasically, an attribute-based access control framework for a large universe is introduced by adopting a ciphertext attribute-based encryption (CP-ABE), which also newlineprovides possible encrypted data security. For all the protocols proof of security newlineand comparative study is provided. An analysis shows the enhancement in terms newlineof performance and security attributes.
