Abstract
To attain the maximum growth coloration and reproductive performance in
newlineornamental fish the effects of Spirulina on growth coloration and reproduction were studied
newlinein an ovo viviparous ornamental fish Xiphophorus helleri as a function of time The growth
newlinecoloration digestive enzymes activities and reproductive performances were increased with
newlineincrease in Spirulina levels upto 15 and thereafter declined Duncan multiple range test
newlinerevealed that higher levels of Spirulina 15 20 did not differ significantly P gt 0 05 on
newlinethe above parameters however they differed significantly P lt 0 05 with lower levels of
newlineSpirulina 0 10 Female X helleri fed with 15 Spirulina diet bred three times and
newlinereleased more number of fry 386 and it was five times higher than those fed with Spirulina
newlinefree diet Based on the present study it is observed that 15 Spirulina diet is better feed
newlineadditive to achieve the maximum growth and reproductive performances in X helleri
