Scientific validation of antidiabetic potentials of Artemisia amygdalina and Gentiana kurroo in diabetic rats

Abstract

Diabetes is prevalent in all parts of the world rapidly increasing worldwide and is quite alarming in most of the developing countries including India Besides being costly the current hypoglycemic agents are associated with adverse effects So in order to identify complementary and alternative approaches to existing medications we studied anti diabetic potential of Artemisia amygdalina Decne and Gentiana kuroo Royle Petroleum ether ethyl acetate methanolic and hydroethanolic extracts of Artemisia amygdalina and Gentiana kuroo were screened for their antidiabetic potential in diabetic rats newlineThe study clearly demonstrated that administration of hydroethanolic and methanolic extracts of Artemisia amygdalina Decne and Gentiana kuroo Royle could ameliorate the healthy status of diabetes in rats and can effectively protect against other metabolic aberrations caused by diabetes in rats
