The work embodied in this thesis titled Metal Incorporated Mesoporous Silica as newlineHeterogeneous Catalyst and Nanozyme comprises of four chapters. The focus of the newlinethesis is to design and synthesize metal (Ag, Cu, and V) incorporated functionalized newlinemesoporous silica nanoparticles (MatMSNs) and discover their potential as catalyst newlinein organic transformation along with chemical and bio-sensing related fields. The newlinesynthesized materials were well characterized by scanning electron microscopy newline(SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), EDX technique and elemental newlinemapping, N2 adsorption-desorption, Differential reflectance spectroscopy (DRS), UV newlineVisible spectroscopy, powder X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier Transform Infrared newlineSpectroscopy (FT-IR), and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). newlineChapter 1 is a precised and general discussion about mesoporous silica newlinenanoparticles (MSNs), their background history, different structural types, importance newlineas solid support, different synthetic strategies of metal insertion and their potential newlineapplication in different field. Significant attention has been directed towards some newlinestriking reports in recent times regarding the application of noble metal nanoparticles newlinein the domains of organic transformation and sensing platforms, which aligns closely newlinewith the topic of my research work. newlineChapter 2 focuses on the synthetic strategy of aggregation-free well-dispersed newlinesilver nanoparticles immobilized over TEPTS-modified SBA-15 silica material newline(AgMS) using a two step sol gel procedure. The as-synthesized AgMS was then newlinecharacterized by SEM, TEM, energy dispersive X-ray analysis-elemental mapping, newlineXRD, N2 adsorption- desorption, and XPS.The material exhibits a mesoporous newlinestructure with a narrow pore size distribution (average pore diameter of 5.7 nm) and newlinehigh surface area of 844 m²g 1, which has been retained even after AgNPs newlineintercalation. The AgMS catalyst was then employed as an efficient heterogeneous newlinecatalyst for selective oxidation of C H bonds to corresponding
