Abstract

The rice (Oryza sativa L.) -wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) cropping system, being the most extensive and productive system, occupies 13.5 M ha land and produces staple grain supply to millions of people in South Asia (Singh et al., 2017). Rice-wheat cropping system is a cornerstone of India s food and nutritional securities, with 75 % contribution to the national food chain. Direct seeded rice and zero tillage wheat practices are becoming popular in this cropping system as sustainable agricultural management practices due to unavailability of water, labour scarcity and higher production cost in conventional system (PTR-CTW). newline
