A Framework to Enhance the Performance and Network Lifetime of Rpl Routing Protocol for Iot

Abstract

ABSTRACT newlineDigitalization of corporate world leads to the advent of ICT (Information, newlineCommunication and Technology) tools for ubiquitous computing. Things/Devices newlineconnected over internet with wired/wireless is Internet of Things (IOT) building a newlinepath for ubiquitous computing. The heart of IOT is Wireless sensor networks which newlinecomprising of energy constrained devices. WSN are implanted in IOT for sensing the newlinedata, processing the data, transferring the data by communication medium and timely newlineresponse (actuating) for the data make the interaction among the objects in real world newlineenvironment. newlineWireless Sensor Network (WSN) are constrained devices with limited energy newlineresources, finite bandwidth and less computational capabilities connected in a newlinenetwork. Routing have relative importance in energy minimization in WSN for Low newlinePower Lossy Networks. The IETF has proposed RPL a routing protocol for LLN newlineusing IPv6 for exponential increase of devices. newlineAs per IETF draft the de-facto parameters of RPL routing protocol for IOT newlinedoes not support in the real time communication as they are static values. It is a timeseries newline newlineproblem can be solved by soft-computing approach using Fuzzy Logic and newlineANFIS. newlineThe major contributions of the work comprise the following newline Recognizing the most influential factor among number of nodes, Transmission newlineRatio, Topology and ICMP time intervals using Taguchi Approach. newline Design and implementation of Fuzzy-Based ICMP RPL Routing Protocol. newline Design and implementation of ANFIS based ICMP RPL Routing Protocol. newline Verification by Artificial-Neural-Network (ANN) approach using NeuralNetwork newline(NN) newlinetoolbox in newlineMat newlinelab newlineand newlineValidating newlinethe model newlineby newlineusing the newlinelinear newline newlineregression newlineapproach in newlineMinitab newlineSoftware. newlineThe research idea of the thesis is incorporating Soft-computing approaches newlinelike Fuzzy, ANFIS for ICMP-RPL using the de-facto parameters specified by the newlineIETF draft is not adaptable for IoT Environment.
