| dc.description.abstract | Stability of power systems is one of the most important aspects in newlineelectric system operations Due to the increasing complexity of power newlinesystems the need for enhancing the stability margin has also increased newlineGenerally power systems experience a variety of disturbances that can result newlinein low frequency electromechanical oscillations This low frequency newlineoscillation takes place among the rotors of synchronous generators connected newlineto the power system In a multimachine power system with weak structure newlinethese oscillations may sustain and grow leading to loss of synchronism and newlinesystem separation if no adequate damping is available Power system newlinestabilizers are the devices used to enhance damping of power system newlineoscillations through excitation control of synchronous generators The newlineobjective of the power system stabilizer is to generate a stabilizing signal newlinewhich produces a damping torque component in a transient process newlineConventional power system stabilizers are designed with the phase newlinecompensation techniques in the frequency domain newline newline | en_US |
