Abstract
Mycobacterium tuberculosis is the causative agent of tuberculosis. MDR phenomenon is very common in human pathogen. MDR-TB (resistant to rifampicin and isoniazid) and XDR-TB (MDR-TB plus resistant to fluoroquinolones and one of the second line treatment). Therefore it is the need of the hour to develop Isolated, characterize new drug.
newline Cyanobacteria are good source of various products of commercial, Pharmaceutical or toxicological importance. Cyanobacteria Nostoc muscorum known to show antifungal, antibacterial antiviral, antialgal, antienzymetic activity. The secondary metabolites produced by cyanobacteria are rich source of novel bioactive compounds which are essential for production of medicine and Agriculturally important chemical.
newlineDifferent organic organic solvents viz n-butanol, chloroform, acetone, ethanol and methanol were used to extract of the cyanobacterium Nostoc muscorum growing diazotrophically and non-diazotrophically. Chloroform, Methanol extract of non-diazotrophically grown cultures exhibited maximum percentage yield in comparison to all solvents used. Extracts were subjected to test the presence of carbohydrates, proteins, saponins, glycosides, flavonoids, terpenoides. TLC profile of different extract of n-butanol, chloroform, acetone, methanol, and ethanol non-diazotrophs and diazotrophs extracts along with Toluene:Ethyl acetate: Formic acid (5:4:1 v/v/v) for quercetin and toluene: Ethyl acetate: Formic acid (7:5:1 v/v/v)as mobile phase resolved major spots at different Rf at 254nm (short wavelength), 365nm (long wavelength) and normal light.
