Worsening health status due to current life style along with improved newlinelife expectancy needs a potent health monitoring system to ensure the newlinewellness of the present population. Wireless body Area networks (WBAN) newlineare a outcome of this requirement. It is a reasonable method of health care. newlineHuman Body is a new and highly diverse medium of communication for the newlineelectromagnetic waves. The key quality of service (QoS) parameter that is newlineessential in WBAN is consistent delivery of the health status at the newlineappropriate receiver. Moreover, WBANs have more rigorous requirements of newlineresource saving when compared to Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs)and newlineMobile Ad-Hoc Networks (MANETs). newlineHuman body is not a favourable medium for communication of the newlineelectromagnetic waves. Apart from attenuating and radiating part of the newlineenergy that is impinged on it, the temperature rise due to the electromagnetic newlinefields can also be detrimental to the tissues and organs. Hence, the range and newlinetransmission power set for the WBAN nodes are very less. This calls for the newlineneed of a routing protocol that reliably and effectively delivers the transmitted newlinedata to the sink in the body irrespective of the communication challenges newlinewhile maintain the medical standards. newlineThere are a variety of routing protocols existing in WBANs. Each of newlinethem has different number of sensor nodes and sink. The route making newlinedecision criteria also varies from smallest distance to the lowest temperature newlineincrease of the surrounding tissue. Each of these class of protocols needs to be newlinestudied in detail with respect to their design and performance. newline
