dc.description.abstractWith the advent of, ultra wide-band (UWB) technology (3.1 to 10.6) GHz by the newlineFederal Communications Commission (FCC) for wireless application, UWB is newlinepromptly advancing as a high data rate solution. UWB antenna plays a crucial role in newlinemaking the UWB system compact and more reliable. However, there are several newlinechallenges while designing a low profile antenna with high gain over entire wide-band.The antenna should operate with constant performance in terms of impedance and should posses uniform and stable radiation patterns over the entire frequency range. Another primary requirement of the proposed antenna is the improved time-domain performance in terms of group delay characteristics. This work focuses on the design and implementation of low profile high gain antenna using wide-band artificial magnetic conductor (AMC) for UWB application. Forward the problem, Initially, three compact UWB antennas were studied namely, the beveled antenna, Sierpinski fractal antenna and stub loaded antenna with coplanar waveguide (CPW) feed. It was revealed that, the gain of the proposed UWB antenna was quite low due to wide bandwidth coverage. Recently, artificial magnetic conductor technique has taken new heights in enhancing the antenna gain due to its low profile configuration
