The healing of burns, diabetes, and chronic wounds is a complicated newlineand multi-phase process that requires good treatment to minimize microbial newlineinfection and enhance tissue regeneration. The process contains four stages: newlinehemostasis, inflammation, proliferation, and remodeling, all of which are newlinenecessary for healing but can be prolonged by bacterial infection. As a result, newlinethere is an increasing demand for advanced wound dressings that promote newlinehealing and prevent bacterial infections. newlinePolysaccharide-based wound dressings have gained popularity in newlinerecent years for their promise in skin regeneration. Polysaccharide-engineered newlineskin substitutes, made through various fabrication techniques, are being newlineexplored for their structural and biological properties. Polysaccharides such as newlinechitosan, alginate, and hyaluronic acid are attractive wound dressing materials newlinedue to their intrinsic bioactive effects, which include antibacterial, anti newlineinflammatory, and hemostatic capabilities. These natural biopolymers have newlinebeen created into a variety of products, including biopatchs, sponges, fibers, newlinehydrogels, and mats, to help restore skin structure and function and speed up newlinewound healing. Chitosan is a potential natural polymer derived from crab and newlineprawn shells in the form of chitin. Because of its inherent antibacterial, newlinebiocompatible, and biodegradable qualities, chitosan biopolymer emerged as a newlinepossible biocompatible wound dressing biomaterial. Chitosan, in particular, newlineprovides stability, self-assembly, and tissue-like characteristics. Consequently, newlinechitosan-based research has focused on optimizing composite formation, drug newlineloading, and the fabrication of ultra-thin scaffolds via cost-effective solvent newlinecasting, enabling the development of bioactive scaffolds that prevent bacterial newlinegrowth and promote tissue regeneration. newline
