| dc.description.abstract | Anaerobic digestion (AD) of waste materials is an increasing important technology for renewable energy production and waste management. This study focuses on optimizing biogas production through the co-digestion of food waste and animal manure under typical rural ambient temperature (20 °C to 30 °C) in Arunachal Pradesh. Crucial factors such as temperature, carbon-to-nitrogen (C/N) ratio, microorganisms, pH, substrate characteristics, organic loading rate, hydraulic retention time, volatile fatty acids, and the presence of inhibitory substances like ammonia and metal ions were analyzed. The study demonstrates the significant impact of these parameters on microbial activity, biogas yield, and system stability, particularly highlighting the roles of dominant microbial communities. Through experimental analysis, the optimal co-digestion ratio of kitchen waste and cow manure was determined to be 3:1, resulting in the highest methane yield. The study also observed that pH Variations, ranging from basic to acidic during digestion, influence the dynamics of biogas production. Additionally, the physicochemical characteristics of substrates, including different varieties of rice and types of animal manure, were examined, and dominant bacterial species such as Klebsiella pneumonia, Escherichia coli, Bacillus anthracis, and Chryseobacterium sp. were identified for their functional roles in the AD process. These findings provide crucial insights into optimising biogas production in rural settings, contributing to improved waste management practices and sustainable energy generation. newline | |
