Abstract

The variations in precipitation and temperature play the key role in the newlinespatio-temporal distribution of glaciers. Although the Himalayan glaciers at newlinepresent experiencing a period of recession, a general consensus regarding the newlinesynchronicity of glaciations in the Indian Himalaya has so far not been achieved. newlineIt is, thus, imperative to gain more insights into the climate parameters that are newlinecontrolling the glacial advances/retreat on centennial to multi-millennial time newlinescales to comprehend the climate-glacier interaction. This will facilitate to newlineunderstand the current pattern of glaciations in the Himalaya that will also be newlinerelevant in future climate scenarios. newline
