| dc.description.abstract | Liquid crystals are those materials which show not only single transition but number of transitions on going from solid to liquid phase. This new phase of material possesses both optical properties of solid and flow property of liquid. Thus the meteoric rise in interest has occurred which revolutionized the display industry. This led to the investigation of new liquid crystalline materials with the differing molecular chemistry in order to study their technological applications. The phase stability plays a crucial role in affecting the lifetime of display devices so any small change in its chemical structure changes the phase transition temperature and its stability, thus the knowledge of structure property relationship is required. newline | |
