Awareness perceptions and attitude towards doping among sportspersons in Punjab a survey study

Abstract

The present study was designed to examine the awareness, perceptions and attitude towards doping among sportspersons in Punjab. The awareness of means and methods of doping, the ability to perceive doping, the opinions, the internal feelings and temperament to justify whether the drug use is right or wrong which influence the doping behavior of an individual. The present study would help the players, coaches and parents to have better understanding of the athletes awareness, perceptions and attitudes towards doping in sports. It would help the various anti- doping agencies, sports regulatory bodies to understand and figure out the root causes behind doping in order to take appropriate remedial measures to overcome this problem. The study will also add new facts in the existing literature and also provide relevant information which would guide new intervention programmers and eventually alert the sportspersons regarding ill effects of doping.
