Abstract
This research titled Emergence of Social Media New Opportunities And Challenges For Public Administration In India was done to explore the various aspects of introduction of social media in the domain of Public administration and also to study its effect on various relevant aspects. This was an attempt to understand that how social media inclusion had changed the dynamics of communication within and without the system. Social media had its benefits as well as drawbacks also. Combating with the negatives of social media is most crucial part to earn out the maximum benefit from it in the sphere of public administration. This is just not the issue of likes, comment and share but beyond that as these depends on the interpretation and perception of masses. What is posted carry value in terms of how it is perceived by people so a public administrator needs to be alert, well trained and tactful to handle the good and bad of social media without losing his her composure. The researcher through this study had tried to understand various issues faced by public administrators in this regard and also to come up with a solution. For example the study what sort of posts are most liked, commented and shared and how the specified hierarchy of responses could prevent confusion and boost up the credibility of the post and the page as well. Besides that being an officer of Uttarakhand Department of Public Relations himself he had tried to delve into the opportunities and challenges involved in this field in a more profound ways. So the objectives of the study includes to find out that how social media can be utilized as a device for mass awareness, to enhance transparency in the system, improvisation in the work culture with the help of active and direct feedback from the people. This also includes the study about the opinions, attitudes and perception of public administrators regarding active use of social media in the government system along with curbing the problem of communication gap.
