Abstract
Rhynchosia species, under the family Fabaceae, may be found in the tropics and subtropics of country. After compilation of the pharmacological activities and traditional uses of Rhynchosia species, it was observed that, not enough study had been done on Rhynchosia rothii plant.
newlineThe goal of study is to look at the phytochemicals, the wound-healing and anti-inflammatory activity of extracts and develop the formulation of an ointment. Rhynchosia rothii leaf powder was extracted with different organic solvents using a Soxhlet extractor. It contained Alkaloids, Tannins, Flavonoids, Proteins, and Mucilage, according to preliminary phytochemical screening by using qualitative chemical tests. Wound healing and anti-inflammatory activity were done on both male and female Wister rats.
newlineAnimals given 200 mg/kg body weight of alcoholic extract of Rhynchosia rothii leaves showed a significant in vivo results. Rhynchosia rothii methanolic extracts sped up the rate at which wounds closed. The methanolic extract of Rhynchosia rothii increased the percentage of wound contraction from 40.08 to 88.90% from day 3 to day 12.
