| dc.description.abstract | Nanocellulose-based materials (NCMs) are a new class of nanomaterials used in newlinewastewater remediation. The NCMs are widely used as flocculants, membranes, adsorbents newlinehydrogels, etc. Moreover, nanocellulose-based materials have been receiving tremendous newlineattraction due to attractive nano-dimension properties which can be tailored according to the newlineneeds of the application. Further, these nanocellulose-based materials show various unique newlineproperties such as lightweight, flexible nature, chemical resistance, thermal stability, ease of newlinefabrication, etc. With this, the flexible CPNCs show applications in the wastewater remediation newlineprocess. To provide a matrix to the nanocellulose various synthetic and non-synthetic polymers newlineare added. But on using synthetic polymers the cost of preparation becomes high and also high newlineattention is given during the operation and maintenance process. Additionally, on adding newlinesynthetic polymers the nanocellulose becomes nonbiodegradable. Therefore, in the present work, newlinewe propose the development of nanocellulose-based material by using non-synthetic polymers newlinesuch as sugarcane bagasse and wood pulp. The focus of the study has been kept on developing, newlinecharacterizing, and analyzing the potential of nanocellulose composite. newlineFor the development of nanocellulose-based composite material chitosan, polyvinyl newlinealcohol was taken as matrix material which helps in forming matrix structure with cellulose newlinenanocrystals acting as reinforcing agents in it. In this study total of four nanocellulose-based newlinecomposites are formulated by using solution mixing and casting techniques after optimization. newlineThe developed NCMs membrane has been used to eliminate chromium ions and MG dye from newlinesynthetic wastewater using batch study. newlineAll developed membranes were then characterized for looking into the morphology and newlineporous structure in the matrix using the FESEM technique. The consequence of adding polymer newlineto the tensile properties of the developed membranes was analyzed by the ultimate tensile test newlinemachine (UTM). | |
