Today, countries around the world are moving towards a cleaner environment. Consequently, over the years, the accumulation of several factors has resulted in an unprecedented need for renewable energy sources (RES) as a potential for integration into the energy grid. The conceptual installation of RES as a Distributed Energy Resource (DER) in the power grid offers advantages such as independence from exhaustible/decreasing carbon-based power generation. Initial work started with the installation of MPPT along with solar system to maximized solar output. We have used Pand O algorithm to enhance output secondly an attempted has been made to reduce penetration loss with the help of STATCOM and MPPT. newlineThis work begins with the modeling and simulation of photovoltaic system. Our main task is to design a solar system with a load of 200MW.The control strategy is combined with maximum power point tracking technology to maximize the power generated by the PV module to the load. We compared the PV performance with and without MPPT. MATLAB tools were used for the design and analysis of the photovoltaic system. FACTS devices have been used to compensate for the reactive VAR. The MPPT quotperturb and observequot algorithm is used, and other methods as proposed by other researchers in the last decade (no-load voltage method, short-circuit current method, incremental conduction method, etc.) have also been tried. It has been observed that MPPT controllers definitely increase the efficiency of solar systems. VAR compensation methods to improve the power quality have also been tried out with the application of STATCOM in the grid system. Results have been listed out. Finally the cascading effects of both MPPT and STATCOM results in the improvement of power quality and increase in efficiency to a considerable extend, which is seen through tabulated results. newline
