Abstract
The thesis titled quotDenouement on Physical and Physiological Aspects of Specially Abled Children through Physical Activityquot investigates the influence of physical activity programs on the physical and physiological well-being of children with intellectual disabilities. This research focuses on understanding how structured physical activity interventions can improve various physical and physiological parameters among children with moderate intellectual disabilities.
newlineThe study explores the significance of physical activity as a tool for promoting health and improving the quality of life of children with intellectual disabilities. The research highlights that physical fitness is an essential element for a healthy lifestyle, especially for those with intellectual disabilities, who often experience limitations in physical and motor skills. These limitations can restrict their engagement in physical activities, leading to health concerns such as obesity, cardiovascular issues, and decreased muscle function. The thesis emphasizes that despite the critical role of physical fitness, there has been limited focus on studying its impact on children with intellectual disabilities in India. The primary aim of the study is to evaluate the effects of a 12-week structured physical activity program on selected physical and physiological variables among children with intellectual disabilities. The study is delimited to a sample of 40 moderate intellectually disabled children aged 13-18 years, comprising 20 boys and 20 girls. The selected physical variables include muscular strength, muscular endurance, flexibility, and dexterity, while the physiological variables cover vital capacity, blood pressure, aerobic functioning (VO2 max), and body mass index (BMI). The research is designed to measure the impact of these variables through a controlled experimental approach, comparing the effects between an experimental group undergoing the physical activity program and a control group that does not participate in the intervention
