Abstract

The study was entitled quotDifferential Educational Achievement of adolescents with respect to psychological and sociological perspectives quot. The study was conducted in two districts: North 24 Paraganas, and South 24 Paraganas, of West Bengal State in India. The major objectives of the study were, to find out the Differential Education Achievement Status of school-going adolescent students, to investigate the strong determinants of Intelligence of school-going adolescent students, to understand the relationship of Intelligence as a psychological factor of Differential Educational achievement of adolescent students, to investigate the strong determinants of Learning Attitude of school-going adolescent students, to understand the relationship of Learning Attitude as a psychological factor of Differential Educational achievement of school going adolescent students, to investigate the strong determinants of Home Environment of school-going adolescent students, to understand the Home Environment as a sociological factor of Differential Educational Achievement of school-going adolescent students, to investigate the strong determinants of Socio-economic Status of school going adolescent students, to understand the Socio-economic Status as a sociological factor of Differential Educational Achievement of school-going adolescent students, and to find out the strong predictor of Differential Educational Achievement of school going adolescent students. Relating to the selection of the sample of the students from the Eleventh standard, 779 were selected; from 779 students in both districts: 380 (10%) students out of 3800 in North 24 Parganas, and 399 students out of 3990 in South 24 Parganas, by simple random sampling technique more specifically lottery method. Out of 779 students, 392 students are from urban areas of which 186 are boys and 206 girls; and 387 are from rural areas of which 206 are boys and 181 are girls, in North 24 Parganas District and South 24 Parganas District.
