Abstract
This research work mainly focuses on the improvement of frequency stability of AC microgrids and interconnected electrical power systems by employing hybrid and improved techniques in secondary control with various tuning algorithms. The mismatch between generation and demand leads to deviation in nominal frequency of the system and scheduled tie- line power flows. Secondary Control is designed and implemented in power systems that automatically balance the load demand and generated power in each control area. The initial adjustment of frequency is achieved by the primary speed control loop and then fine adjustment is done by the supplementary controller which resets the frequency error to zero through integral action of Integral / Proportional-Integral / Proportional-Integral-Derivative controller / Fractional order PID controller/ Multistage PID controller. Therefore the performance of AGC mainly depends on suitable gains of the I/PI/PID controller
