Performance Analysis Of Space Time Coded Multiple Antenna System Over Fading Channel

Abstract

Wireless communication system is predominantly used due to improved mobility, cost effective, Wi-Fi fidelity and scalability. Reliability is major issue in wireless communication system which is affected mainly due to fading and interference problems. The problem of fading is addressed by diversity system by using multiple permits the receiver to get replicas as the same symbols at different instant of time. Moreover channel coding methods are used to improve the reliability of the system. Space Time Code (STC) is one of the techniques in which bit stream is coded in both spatial and time domain which imposed reliability by countering the effect of multipath fading. Wireless transmission is always desirable error free which is made possible by using concept of multiple antennas in both the transmitter and receiver end. This work uses ordered way to design channel matrix, retaining the orthogonal property and to keep the channel uncorrelated consequently this helps to improve the performance and to reduce the effect of fading in multiple antenna systems. By this higher order antenna system as called MIMO system for higher order of transmitting and receiving antennas is designed and implemented which includes space-time block coding technique (STBC) and Maximum Ratio Combining (MRC) diversity scheme. newlineIn order to reduce interference, a Successive Interference Cancellation (SIC) scheme is introduced and applied to individual branches that improve detection capacity and the performance of multiple input and multiple output antennas (MIMO) system. Interference cancellation scheme is applied with the linear equalizer minimum mean square error (MMSE) and Zero-forcing (ZF) known as MMSE-SIC and ZF-SIC. The performance of the MIMO scheme is analyzed under Rayleigh fading channel using Maximum Ratio Combining (MRC) method for MMSE, MMSE-SIC, ZF and ZF-SIC equalization techniques.
