Abstract
Transition elements, with incomplete d-orbitals in their atomic structures, offer
newlineunique physical and chemical properties. Because these elements are close to the d and ns
newlineshells, they can stay in more than one oxidation state. This makes it possible for them to
newlineform different oxides and gives transition metals and metal oxides more uses.
newlineNanotechnology involves molecular and atomic manipulation, with potential applications
newlinein medicine and technology. Nanoparticles, specific complexes of solid units ranging from
newline1 to 100 nm, possess a large surface area due to their small size, allowing for higher
newlinereactivity and specialised properties.
newlineNanomaterials offer significant technological advancements, but conventional
newlinesynthesis techniques like co-precipitation, sol-gel, and hydrothermal require toxic
newlinechemicals, harmful by-products, and energy. The functional requirements of nanoparticles
newlinedepend on size and shape. This study aims to establish a suitable synthesis process, either
newlinebottom-up or top-down. Phyto-nanotechnology is a modern, economic, and eco-friendly
newlinetechnique that can synthesize nanoparticles quickly and efficiently, offering medical
newlineapplicability and water as a reducing solvent. Dissolvable plant extracts can be used as
newlinereducing and capping agents in metal oxide nanoparticle synthesis, and silver nitrate are
newlinerequired for green synthesis of silver nanoparticles.
newlinePlant-based AgNPs synthesis can be carried out from various plant parts, including
newlineleaves, fruits, roots, seeds, and stems. These plants contain organic biomolecules with
newlinetherapeutic value. Biological methods have proven to be environmentally friendly for the
newlinesynthesis of AgNPs, making them preferred. Silver nanoparticles are widely used in various
newlineapplications, including signal enhancers, optical receptors, sensors, biolabeling materials,
newlineanticancer, antioxidant, and antimicrobial agents. In conclusion, nanomaterials have
newlineimmense potential for technological advances and are being explored for various
newlineapplications, including anticancer, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, and water treatment.
newlineChemical characterization is crucial in determining the chemical constitution of a material
newlineto achieve biocompatibility.
newlineThe characterization techniques, such as UV-Visible Spectroscopy (UV-Visible),
newlineFourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), X-ray powder diffraction (XRD),
newlineScanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) with Energy Dispersive X-Ray Analysis (EDX),
newlineScanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Thermogravimetric Analysis (TGA), Differential
newlineThermal Analysis (DTA), and High-resolution transmission electron microscopy
newline(HRTEM). Computational investigations like HOMO and LUMO determinations are also
newlineincluded. This work investigates the synthesis, properties, and applicability of various
newlineii
newlinenanoparticles in adsorption, absorption, anti-corrosion, anti-cancer, and antimicrobial
newlineactions. The biosynthesis of silver nanoparticles using Eichhornia crassipes (EC) leaf
newlineextract and its applications are discussed. EC is an invasive species outside its native area,
newlinecreating a dense canopy on the water surface, acting as an exotic pest plant, shading native
newlinesubmerged plant species, and uprooting native emergent species important to wildlife.
newlineThe bio-synthesized silver nanoparticles using EC leaf extract were confirmed by
newlineUV-visible, FTIR, SEM-EDX, HRTEM, and XRD characterization tools. The formation
newlineof green silver nanoparticles from agricultural waste products, such as ground nuts shell, is
newlineinvestigated using the Soxhlet extraction apparatus. The formation of ground nutshell
newlineextract silver nanoparticles (GNSE-AgNPs) is identified by Fourier transform infrared
newlinespectroscopy (FTIR), X-ray diffraction spectroscopy (XRD), scanning electron microscopy
newline(SEM), and transmission electron microscopy (TEM).The study on the anticancer
newlineproperties of biosynthesized silver nanoparticles using Moringa oleifera (MO) leaf extract
newlineon A549 and MCF7 cell line treatments, as well as a scratch assay, is discussed. The ability
newlineof plant phytochemicals to reduce inorganic metal salts into their metals has launched an
newlineexciting eco-friendly approach towards developing bio-nanotechnology. Synthesis through
newlinea biological approach is an important aspect of current nanotechnology. The antimicrobial
newlineactivity and anticancer assessment of biosynthesized silver nanoparticles using Lantana
newlinecamara (LC) leaf extract on A549 and MCF7 cell lines are also discussed.
