Synthesis Crystal Structures and Properties of Metal and#946; oxodithioester Complexes

Abstract

This thesis describes twenty one (21) new homoleptic metal complexes (Scheme 1) of Tl(I), Zn(II), Cd(II), Ni(II) and Pd(II) formed with functionalized and#61538;-oxodithioester ligands [1-4]. These compounds have been characterized by elemental analyses, spectroscopy (IR, electronic absorption, CD, 1H, and 13C{1H} NMR ) and their solid state structures have also been investigated by single crystal X-ray diffraction. The bulk purity of complexes has been checked by powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD) studies. The photoluminescent and solid phase conducting properties of the complexes have been determined. Some complexes have been evaluated for their catalytic and anti-leishmanial activities. The solid state structural determination of the complexes revealed intriguing 1D/2D coordination polymeric structures for the majority of Tl(I), Zn(II) and Cd(II) complexes. Discrete tetrahedral geometry for some Zn(II) complexes and cis-chelated square planar geometry for Ni(II) and Pd(II) complexes are established newline
