Abstract
and#256;yurveda is the science of life having its existence since time immemorial. It has its origin in the Indian subcontinent and is practiced as a traditional system of medicine. The great scholars of and#256;yurveda have spent their entire life for the development of the same. The main motto of their devotion was the maintenance of longevity of life with good health as well as freedom from disease.
newline and#256;yurveda is bestowed with many hypothetical concepts laid down by our sages, the concept of Pramand#257;and#7751;a is one of those. In Pramand#257;and#7751;a and#346;and#257;rand#299;ra, the measurements of various parts of the body are mentioned. Pramand#257;and#7751;a parand#299;kand#7779;and#257; stated by and#257;chand#257;rya meant to have a deeper understanding of physical built and mental constitution. The pramand#257;and#7751;a mainly categorized in two types, Anguland#299; pramand#257;and#7751;a and Anjaland#299; pramand#257;and#7751;a. Out of these, Anguland#299; pramand#257;and#7751;a deals with the measurements of various parts of the human body, whereas Anjaland#299; pramand#257;and#7751;a is about the measure of liquid components of the body. Its reference can be cited in ancient literature ranging from Vedic era to Mediaeval period.
