A socio economic study of migrant street vendors in Mumbai city

Abstract

The researcher surveyed the migrant street vendors in Mumbai City and studied the problems of the street vendors. Mumbai City in the recent past has been a major attraction for the migrants from the areas of Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra. Street vending is an important source of livelihood for many migrants in Mumbai City. However, street vendors in Mumbai City encounter various obstacles at the place of vending. The study has been conducted in WARD A, B, C D, E and F/N of Mumbai City to explore the difference in problems between various wards. Also, an analysis of the income and items of consumption expenditure of the street vendors was conducted by the researcher. newline
