Abstract newlinePage vii newline A randomized clinical trial to evaluate the efficacy of Marand#347;a Nasya and Karnapand#363;raand#7751;a with Kand#351;and#299;rabaland#257; Taila and Aand#347;wagandhand#257;dya Ghrita orally in the management of Vand#257;taja Band#257;dhirya w.s.r. to Sensorineural Hearing Loss newlineABSTRACT newlineBackground newlineAsand#257;tmendriyand#257;rtha Samyoga (improper use of sensory and motor organs), Pragyand#257;parand#257;dha (Anti-social and communal codes), and Parinand#257;ma (time and season) are the root cause of any disease. Today due to faulty lifestyle and dietary habits, stress (Pragyand#257;parand#257;dha), noise pollution, overuse of headphones (Asand#257;tmendriyand#257;rtha Samyoga), seasonal variation, and atmospheric changes (Parinand#257;ma) have increased the cases of Band#257;dhirya (SNHL). newlineBand#257;dhirya is one among the Karand#7751;a-gata Rogand#257;s that can be correlated with deafness. There are three types of Band#257;dhirya viz. Vand#257;taja, Vand#257;ta-Kaphaja and Kaphaja Band#257;dhirya which can be correlated to sensori neural, mixed and conductive deafness respectively. Hence, sensori neural deafness can be correlated to Vand#257;taja Band#257;dhirya. Band#257;dhirya is characterized by muffled hearing, difficulty in listening to conversation especially against background noise, or in midst of a crowd, refraining from conversations, and avoiding social gatherings. In Band#257;dhirya the patient also suffers from tinnitus (ringing sound in ears). newlineOn population-based studies in 2012, WHO released new estimates on the magnitude of disabling hearing loss. There are about 360 million persons in the world with disabling hearing loss (5.3 % of the world s population). Among them, 328 million (91 %) are adults (183 million males and 145 million females) and 32 million (9%) of these are children. So the prevalence of Band#257;dhirya (SNHL) is increasing, yet no satisfactory treatment has been established. newlineAs Band#257;dhirya is a Vand#257;ta Doand#7779;a Pradhand#257;na Vyand#257;dhi, Vrunhaand#7751;a Nasya and Ghrita were selected as being regarded as the best treatment for pacifying Vand#257;ta and it is also mentioned in the context of Band#257;dhirya to adopt Vand#257;ta Vyand#257;dhivata Cikitsand#257; . Hence in the present study, Kshand#299;ra Baland#257; Taila was selected for Marand#347;a Nasya and Karnapand#363;r
