dc.description.abstractThe development of multifunctional agents for the treatment of complex diseases has accelerated over the last couple of years. A novel series of chalcone based compounds have been designed and synthesized using the in silico softwares and reported synthetic methods with slight modifications. The synthesized compounds have been biologically evaluated using in vitro assays for acetylcholinesterase (AChE) inhibition, advanced glycation end product formation (AGEs) inhibition and antioxidant activity. Most of the synthesized compounds inhibited AChE with low-micromolar IC50 values. Additionally, these compounds shown significant inhibition of AGEs and antioxidant properties On the basis of experimental data, compound PS-21 potentially inhibited AChE with IC50 value of 11.6 nM and more potent than reference compound donepezil. The results revealed that these chalcone derivatives could be considered for potential multifunctional anti-Alzheimer s agents. newline
