newline Several types of open source software are found to be operational in various fields of newlineactivities around the world. But this thesis concentrates on evaluation, installation, newlinecustomization and implementation of different open source software at the library of newlineSiksha O Anusandhan (Deemed to be University) specifically on the Linux platform. As newlinethe field of its application, this study has opted the library domain in general and the newlinelibrary of Siksha O Anusandhan in particular. newlineSo far as the aim of the present study is concerned, the Linux is capable of satisfying all newlinevarieties of library requirements as an operating system (OS) for maintaining its server. newlineThe actual strength of this specific OS lies in the fact that as a technological concern, it newlinewill enable all the transactions flawless and absolutely cost free.
