A Study of Job Satisfaction of Faculty Members in Private Engineering and Technology Colleges under the Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology West Bengal

Abstract

Comprehensive review of literature has revealed that there has been countless numbers of research done newlineon the level of job satisfaction of employees in industry, corporate offices, service sectors and other newlineprofessionals but not on the faculty members working in private Engineering Colleges in West Bengal. newlineFaculty members are the critical human resource element of any Government, Government-aided or newlineprivate Colleges anywhere in the world. Hence, it is of paramount importance for the management to newlineknow the overall job satisfaction level of the faculty members since it will affect the performance of their newlinerespective Colleges. The purpose of this study is to examine the relationship of some selected personal newlinefactors namely age, gender, marital status, educational qualification, teaching experience and academic newlinerank with the overall job satisfaction of the faculty members based on hygiene factors (policy and newlineadministration, supervision, inter-personal relationship, working conditions, salary and job security) and newlinemotivator factors (achievement, recognition, the work-itself, responsibility and advancement and growth) newlineof the private Engineering and Technology Colleges under the Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of newlineTechnology, West Bengal. The study used a survey questionnaire responded by 526 faculty members from newline69 randomly selected private Engineering and Technology Colleges. The statistical tool used in data newlineanalysis is primarily through t-test. newline
