The proliferation of contemporary wireless communication systems has created a demand for advanced technologies, necessitating the development of compact, high-performance antennas. This thesis aims at to design and fabricate antennas with superior radiation performance for diverse advanced wireless applications, thereby surpassing existing solutions. It comprehensively examines the design and performance analysis of planar and reconfigurable antennas integrated with artificial magnetic conductor (AMC) surfaces to enhance crucial parameters, such as gain, bandwidth, front-to-back ratio (FBR), and specific absorption rate (SAR). This study begins with an extensive review of the literature and detailed characterization methods for unit cells, employing S-parameter retrieval and computational analysis for patch antennas. Cutting-edge planar antenna designs were presented initially, achieving dual-band, triple-band, multiband, and wideband characteristics while integrating AMC surfaces to enhance radiation performance. These designs demonstrate significant improvements in bandwidth, efficiency, and SAR reduction, which were validated through rigorous simulations and experimental tests. newline
